Shadow in Education"If there is anything that we wish to change in the child, we should first examine it and see whether it is not something that could better be changed in ourselves."
Carl Jung When facing problems with particular students or classes I used the "other hand" technique to communicate with the shadow component that required healing. Changing my inner world (my consciousness) led to improvements in my teaching practice and student behaviour. |
1. Healing the Rebellious Teenager "I bring hidden rebellion, sly undermining rather than open questioning of your authority."
2. Healing Disrespect for Authority "I resonate with the more disaffected students, the less able students, the working-class students who hate authority the most."
3. Healing Confrontation "Students feel my presence and challenge you accordingly. They sense your dislike of confrontation... My purpose is to embolden the disaffected, the malcontents, the lazy and disillusioned to challenge you."
4. Healing Chaos "Many of your students lead chaotic, disorganised lives and this is reflected in their work."
5. Healing I don't want to know "I bring disaffected learners into your life! Most but not all of your students hate maths with a passion. They see no point in doing it at all."
